There will always be those
Who envy you
Your life, your talents,
Your gifts.
They will see you
And define you by these,
None of which you define
Yourself by.
They will not see
The pain, the loss,
The grief
That attend such things.
And, because they see
The richness of your life
They will demand
That you apologize
For these riches
They covet.
And in their pain
They will add to your own.
